Employers provide paid training, assign a mentor, collaborate on the training plan and evaluate apprentice progress.
Programs generally include 2,000 to 6,000 hours of structured on-the-job learning to ensure competency in all required skills.
Apprentices can be new employees or current staff interested in upskilling.
Michigan Works! acts as an intermediary by assisting with recruitment, case management, funding opportunities and compliance paperwork.
Macomb serves as the training partner by designing customized training, offering flexible course formats and ensuring U.S. Department of Labor compliance. Our apprenticeship teams provide ongoing support through the process.
Macomb provides 144-432 hours of Related Technical Instruction (RTI), which is the classroom or online learning component of the apprenticeship. The amount of RTI hours varies depending upon the occupation.
Business and information technology apprenticeships last 12-24 months and include at least 2,000 on-the-job hours. Apprenticeships are customizable for the employer’s needs.
