Don’t delay, fill out the FAFSA today!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is open for the 2025-2026 school year. Filling out the FAFSA is the primary way to receive money for college, so it’s a must-do.
Completing the application will help you receive federal grants, loans, state funding, work-study opportunities and more.
Here’s what you need to know:
October 1: FAFSA Opens
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) becomes available each year on October 1 for the upcoming academic year.
What you should do:
- Complete and submit your FAFSA as early as possible.
- Allow 3-5 business days for Macomb to receive your FAFSA information after submission.
- Monitor your Macomb-issued email account for updates regarding your financial aid status.
After FAFSA Submission
Once your FAFSA is received and processed by Macomb:
- Review your financial aid requirements.
- Respond promptly to any requests for additional information.
- Check your Macomb-issued email regularly for important updates.
FAFSA for the current academic year must be submitted online by:
June 30 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time
Applications submitted after this deadline cannot be considered for federal financial aid for that academic year.
Stay Informed: Check Your Macomb Email
All financial aid communications are sent to your Macomb-issued email account, including:
- Requests for additional documentation
- Verification notifications
- Financial aid eligibility updates
- Award information
- Important deadline reminders

- Online FAFSA Form: While you’re filling out the FAFSA, you will notice each question has a white question mark icon next to it. Click on one for help on how to answer that particular question.
