Travel-based Learning

travel based learning

Are you ready to explore the world?

An experience of a lifetime for all to enjoy!

Whether you’re interested in earning credit toward a degree or just a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience, our travel-based learning and study abroad opportunities are the perfect way to become fully immersed in another culture.

Study abroad or travel-based learning?

Study abroad offers students the opportunity to pursue their academic goals in a foreign country. The experience involves immersing oneself in a new culture, learning a new language and gaining global perspective. Students earn college credit for study abroad experiences.

Travel-based learning combines travel with learning experiences. It allows students (and other travelers) the chance to gain knowledge and skills through interaction with different cultures, environments and communities.

Our travel opportunities offer students an incredible opportunity to explore the world. You can travel to exciting destinations like Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Germany, the Czech Republic and France, learning about their cultures and languages.

If you prefer domestic travel (trips within the United States), you can explore cities such as Washington D.C., New Orleans and others that offer fun and educational experiences.

It’s an experience of a lifetime!

“It’s one thing to read something in a textbook and commit it to memory. When you see it live, your perspective changes. Students get to experience new cultures, learn new language skills, and interact with people that they wouldn’t normally meet. Some students have never been on an airplane before, let alone outside the country. This gives them a chance to grow, mature and find a new level of confidence,” said Macomb faculty member John Chirco, who has led multiple international trips.
