Unmanned Aerial Systems/Devices Policy

Unmanned Aerial Systems/Devices Policy

Macomb Community College prohibits the operation of unmanned aerial systems/devices, hereinafter referred to as (“UAS”), on, in, or above College property or property leased or otherwise controlled by the College. UAS include any artificially powered flying object without a human pilot onboard, including but not limited to drones, model airplanes, rockets, and remotely controlled flying devices.

Persons seeking a waiver of this policy must submit a completed Unmanned Aerial Systems/Devices (UAS) Flight Application form to the Chief of College Police at least two weeks before the proposed use. Waivers will only be granted if the proposed use is deemed to be in the best interest of the College, if in the discretion of the College the operator is appropriately trained in operation of the specific UAS in question, and if the operator agrees to follow appropriate rules of operation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
