Flexible class times and options help our students arrange their busy home and work lives around their education with on-campus and online class options.  The academic year consists of four 11-week semesters.  Courses may be completed on campus in the traditional format, in our hybrid 2+2 format, and online.  In addition to the Macomb University Center locations, Walsh’s main campus is located in Troy and additional locations are in Novi and Port Huron.

Walsh offers the following degree programs at the Macomb University Center:

Bachelor of Accountancy

Accounting is often referred to as “the language of business.”  An understanding of financial and managerial accounting issues are key in business success.  Accounting is a legacy program at Walsh, which has been educating students in the field of accounting for nearly a century.  Two concentrations are offered in the Bachelor of Accountancy degree program – Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).  The CMA concentration is endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).  Students pursuing the CPA concentration usually plan to work as auditors or tax professionals, while the CMA concentration is designed for students pursuing a career in corporate accounting or finance.

Walsh offers Bachelor of Business (BBA) degrees with majors in finance, general business, management and marketing.

BBA - Finance

The finance major assists students in developing an appreciation for and understanding of the financial decision-making process.  It is designed to provide an exposure to accounting, business law and taxation concepts.  The curriculum prepares students for the fields of credit analysis, commercial lending, brokerage and financial services, financial planning financial analysis, and financial institution management, as well as other careers in industry and government.

BBA - General Business

The general business major is an option for students seeking a promotion, changing careers, or preparing for a graduate degree program.  The general business major is focused on building a strong foundation for all areas of business.  Students have the flexibility to customize their degree with specialized electives in a number of areas including accounting, finance, information technology, management, and marketing.

BBA - Management

The management major assists students in developing an understanding of decision methodology, business resource management, organization structures, business strategy, and business policy.  Emphasis is place on the principles of managing, the skills of decision-making and problem-solving, and the techniques of interpersonal relationships.  For the student with little or no experience, the curriculum provides the foundation for an entry-level management position in purchasing, customer service, human resources management, public administration, office management, or operations.

BBA – Marketing

The marketing major exposes students to the skills necessary to begin a career in the areas of sales, market research, promotion, retail, distribution, advertising, public relations, direct marketing, or purchasing.  Coursework builds around the four P’s of marketing:  product, pricing, place of distribution, and promotion.  More importantly, it prepares students for professional business leadership beyond nuts and bolts of the subject matter.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA degree will assist with developing a student’s ability to solve complex problems and make strategic decisions in today’s global business environment.  MBA courses are taught by proven business leaders who are experienced practitioners in their fields.  This approach bridges the gap between real-world practices and the classroom experience.  The MBA program consists of 10 courses for 30 semester credits.  The MBA degree is offered online and in a hybrid format.  Students looking to combine the breadth and prestige of the MBA with the specialization of a Master of Science degree can choose from one of four dual-degree options in finance, information technology leadership, management, and marketing.

Walsh offers the following master degrees at the Troy Campus, Novi Campus, and/or online:  Master of Arts in Business (MAB), Master of Science in Accountancy (MAC), Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Information Technology, Master of Science in Information Technology Leadership, Master of Science in Marketing, Master of Science in Organization Leadership, and Master of Science in Taxation.  Dual-degree options with the MBA are offered with the Master of Science degrees in Finance, Information Technology Leadership, and Marketing.
