For Macomb student Dommique Diamond, a career in broadcast journalism has been more than a casual interest. It’s been a dream she’s had since childhood.

Growing up, Dommique watched Fox 2 News often and imagined herself working in its newsroom. Once she took a course in journalism in high school, her decision to go into broadcasting was cemented.

“I want to make sure that every story or event that’s worth telling gets told,” she said.

Today, Dommique is pursuing that dream through the broadcast track in Macomb’s Speech Communication Arts program. She’s hopeful of landing a job as a newsroom producer after earning her associate degree.

“Every day is a new adventure,” she said. “I’m excited to get out there.”

At Macomb, the Speech Communication Art program helps students like Dommique prepare for careers in media, public relations and more.
