Michigan Reconnect, the state’s scholarship program that helps adults earn a college degree or skills certificate, has been permanently expanded to include residents ages 21 and older.
 
“This change opens the door for additional residents to pursue higher education and workforce training at Macomb,” said Heidi Schall, director of admissions at Macomb.
 
Prior to the recent change, Michigan Reconnect was available to eligible students ages 25 and older.
 
The program covers community college tuition for qualified students interested in earning an associate degree or certificate.
 
“It’s a great opportunity to attend Macomb tuition-free,” Schall said.
 
Who is eligible for the Michigan Reconnect Scholarship?

To qualify for Michigan Reconnect you must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age when you apply
  • Have lived in Michigan for at least one year
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Not have already earned an associate or bachelor’s degree.
 
How do you apply for the Michigan Reconnect scholarship?
 
To apply, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once approved, students must enroll in at least one credit hour and maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
 
Are there any costs that aren’t covered?
 
Michigan Reconnect doesn’t cover:

  • Books, fees and supplies
  • Transportation
  • Childcare
