Advance Your Career
Our programs support career growth.
Whether you’re interested in sharpening your skills, earning a certification, or exploring a new industry, Macomb’s professional development programs are designed to help you transform your future.

Our programs support career growth by helping you build your skills, train quickly for in-demand fields, and earn or renew important certifications or credentials.

What professional development programs does Macomb offer?

We offer a range of short-term, career-focused training in high-demand areas, including:

  • Business
  • Computer-aided design and 3D printing
  • Computers and information technology
  • Education
  • Fitness
  • Health
  • Occupational safety
  • Public service (police, fire, EMS)
  • Skilled trades, and more.

From the classroom to the field

Staying current with industry standards is a top priority. That’s why our faculty are either actively working in the field or have recently retired, bringing fresh, relevant insights into their teaching. In addition, when developing programs our faculty respond to the workforce training needs identified by local agencies and employers.

This approach is especially important in public service fields, where students may be faced with high-pressure situations that require quick thinking.

“Our training is custom tailored and taught by professionals who bring years of experience into the classroom,” said Michael Lopez, director of Macomb’s Public Service Institute. “We also use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure students are learning with the same tools they’ll use on the job.”

Are classes held at night or online?

We offer flexible professional development programs designed to fit busy schedules and diverse learning preferences, including evening classes, weekend sessions, hybrid and fully online classes. These options make it easier to gain skills, maintain certifications or transition to a new career at your pace.
