Enhanced relationship will increase opportunities for Macomb students

Kettering University, Flint, Mich., has become a Macomb Community College University Center partner, which is located on the college’s Center Campus in Clinton Township. This expands a long-standing collaboration, enhancing opportunities for Macomb students in the fields of engineering, computer science and business.

“Deepening our relationship with Kettering University increases opportunities for Macomb students to prepare for high-demand fields and connect with highly regarded employers in the region,” said Dr. Lori Gonko, president, Macomb Community College. “The Kettering partnership opens more doors for Macomb students and positions them for success while supporting local business and industry with a highly qualified talent pool.”

Macomb and Kettering have an established transfer pathway that aligns Macomb’s Associate of Business Administration in business management, entrepreneurship and small business management, general business and global supply chain management to Kettering’s Bachelor of Science in management. Macomb and Kettering are working to expand transfer agreements in additional program areas.

"A strong transfer pathway does more than connect two institutions. It lets a student's education continue rather than start over," said Dr. Robert K. McMahan, president, Kettering University. "Macomb and Kettering bring complementary strengths to this partnership. For Macomb students, it opens a direct path into Kettering's cooperative model, which alternates academic terms with paid professional work at more than 600 employer partners. A Macomb student who transfers to Kettering does not finish a bachelor's degree and then look for a career. The career begins while the degree is underway.”

The benefits of these agreements are providing more options for Macomb students to seamlessly transfer, reducing the total cost of an overall four-year education and saving the student time in the process.

Kettering University becomes the Macomb University Center’s 11th partner. It’s office in the University Center will provide Macomb students interested in transferring to the university with direct, in-person access to Kettering staff and expertise.
