The robotics industry is booming, offering high-paying, hands-on careers across several sectors including manufacturing, health care, logistics and more. The growing demand makes a career in robotics a smart choice for those interested in technology, automation and innovation.
“Employers are looking for people with the skills our programs deliver,” said Donald Hutchison, Ed.D., Dean, Engineering and Advanced Technology.
Become a robot or controls technician fast
Robot technicians operate and maintain robotic systems used in manufacturing and automation. Controls technicians install, maintain, program and troubleshoot robotic systems.
Macomb offers two fast-track programs in these fields. Both are designed to prepare students for the workforce in 14 to 16 weeks.
Below is what sets Macomb’s programs apart from others:
- Accelerated learning: Full-time, immersive training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Industry-driven curriculum: Developed in partnership with local manufacturers and automation companies.
- Hands-on experience: “Our students train on state-of-the-art equipment—robots, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial sensors—that they’ll encounter on the job,” Hutchinson said.
- Modern facilities: Learn in state-of-the-art labs that simulate real work environments.
- Affordable Access: Financial aid, scholarships and grants are available.
Training is perfect for hands-on learners
This program is ideal for career changers, high school graduates, industry professionals interested in upskilling in advancement in manufacturing or automotive sectors, military veterans and tech enthusiasts. No prior experience or classwork is required to get started.
“Students who thrive in our program tend to be curious, hands-on learners who enjoy understanding how things work,” Hutchinson said.
