American Council on Education (ACE)
Macomb reviews American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations to determine whether college credit may be awarded.ACE evaluates courses and training programs offered by organizations, businesses and other providers and determines whether they are eligible for a recommendation for college credit.
When a student successfully completes an ACE-approved course or training program, Macomb may award credit based on the applicable ACE credit recommendation and Macomb's transfer credit policy.
How it works
- Choose an ACE-approved course or training program.
- Successfully complete the course or training.
- Request an official ACE transcript documenting your completed coursework or training.
- Submit the official ACE transcript to Macomb Community College for evaluation.
- Macomb will review the ACE credit recommendation and determine whether applicable college credit can be awarded.
Where to find ACE-approved courses
The ACE National Guide allows students to search for courses, exams, certifications and other learning experiences that have been evaluated by ACE and carry recommendations for college credit. Visit the ACE National Guide website to confirm that the course has an active ACE credit recommendation.How to request an ACE transcript
Request your official ACE transcript through the Credly website. Students can request and send their official ACE transcript electronically to a college or university.Macomb requires an official ACE transcript to evaluate ACE credit. A transcript issued directly by the course provider in not a substitute for an official ACE transcript.

Examples of ACE-approved course providers
Some examples of providers with courses that have received ACE credit recommendations include Sophia Learning, StraighterLine and Study.com.The ACE credit recommendation applies to specific courses and time periods. Students should use the ACE National Guide to verify that the course they plan to complete has an active ACE credit recommendation.
Important information
An ACE credit recommendation does not guarantee that college credit will be awarded. Macomb reviews official ACE transcripts and determines whether credit may be awarded based on the college’s transfer policies and degree requirements.ACE credit may not satisfy certain program requirements, such as selective admission prerequisites that require a letter grade or requirements of the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).
Students who plan to transfer to another college or university should speak with a Macomb counselor or advisor before using ACE credit toward their program. Transfer policies vary by institution.
