Connecting with humanity
In our courses, you’ll discover connections between art and life that you never knew existed.
Science fiction movies, for example, are more a critique on the present than a prediction about the future. And did you know that Christianity, Judaism and Islam share a belief in the Old Testament?
Ask your classmates to name the first work of art that comes to mind. Mona Lisa will win by a landslide.
From myths to rock music
Our humanities faculty are passionate and excited about the subjects they teach, and they’ll make you excited as well.
And with all the great courses we offer, it’s hard to imagine you won’t find one that interests you. Here are just a few:
- Human Values, Technology and the Automobile
- Rock Music: A Cultural Perspective
- The Film as Art
- Comparative Religions
- Introduction to Mythology
- Introduction to Asian Religions and Culture
- Western Religious Traditions
Career or curiosity
If you’re fulfilling general education requirements to earn a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university, our humanities courses easily transfer.
Perhaps our courses have made you want to share your discoveries with others? You’ll need to earn at least a master’s degree to teach humanities courses at a community college.
But regardless of your major, the humanities have been shown to enrichen lives and foster career success by encouraging both creativity and critical thinking.
