Understanding how matter behaves
Chemistry isn't something confined to NASA research or pharmaceutical labs. It's part of our everyday lives, when we cook, clean or grocery shop.
GMO or organic? Plant-based or grass-fed?
Thank a chemist for giving us choices. They ensure that the food we eat, the products we use and the chemical compounds we release into the air are as harmless as possible to us and the environment.
Whether you want to become a chemist, engineer, health care professional or just a better-informed citizen, our courses will take you right to the heart of matter.
A foundation for many fields
Chemistry is not the only field that our courses can prepare you for.
Chemistry is also a necessary foundation for:
- Engineering
- Pharmacy
- Medicine
- Nursing
- Dentistry – including Dental Hygiene
- Physical Therapy
- Clinical Lab Technology
- And many more!
Lab experiments to spark your interest
Our faculty include many current or former chemists, most hold doctorates in chemistry.
Not only do they make the coursework relevant for all students, chemistry major or not, but they also add a lab component to show students through a variety of experiments how exciting chemistry is!
Depending on which chemistry course(s) you take, you'll learn about:
- Atomic & molecular structure
- Chemical bonding
- Reactivity of hydrocarbons
- Chemical periodicity
- Thermodynamics
- Kinetics
- Organic synthesis
- And much more!
Courses that transfer
If you want to become a chemist or major in another field that requires a strong foundation in chemistry, our courses transfer to four-year colleges and universities so you can earn the advanced degrees required in some of those professions.
Our courses also fulfill general education requirements at four-year colleges and universities, regardless of what you major in.
Our beakers and Bunsen burners are waiting for you!
