Upcoming information sessions for prospective students of Macomb Community College’s Michigan Maritime Manufacturing program

Final cohort forming for the 17-week tuition-free, fast-track program

Information sessions about Macomb Community College’s Michigan Maritime Manufacturing (M3) training program will be held on Sept. 30 and Oct. 14, 3:30-5p.m., at the college’s Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Warren. The 17-week accelerated programs are offered in maritime CNC machining and welding, with M3 graduates securing well-paying jobs with local advanced manufacturing companies.

Macomb is now enrolling students for the final cohort funded through a grant from the U.S Navy, which covers student costs, including tuition and supplies. The cohort begins Oct. 26 and meets 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from either 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.-midnight. The programs emphasize hands-on learning and are conducted in the state-of-the-art maritime skilled training center at Macomb’s M-TEC.

“There is a great demand as well as continued growth in metro Detroit and throughout the state for those with CNC machining and welding skills,” said Christopher Reilly, director, Workforce Continuing Education, Engineering & Advanced Technology, Macomb Community College. “Those who complete the M3 program are prepared to step into well-paying jobs with futures at local maritime advanced manufacturing companies.”
