Macomb Community College hosts Healthcare Discovery Night

Learn about great healthcare career opportunities that that can be completed in nine months or less

Macomb Community College will host Healthcare Discovery Night on Aug. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m., giving individuals looking for a career change or to return to school an opportunity to explore healthcare certificate programs that can prepare them for in-demand jobs in nine months or less. The event will be held in R Building at Macomb’s Center Campus in Clinton Township.

"Many people are interested in healthcare but aren't sure where to begin," said Michelle Valin, director, Center for Health Careers, Macomb Community College. "Healthcare Discovery Night is designed to help them explore their options, learn about different career pathways and discover how their interests may align with opportunities in the healthcare field."

The event will feature hands-on demonstrations and simulation experiences as well as opportunities to connect with industry experts and faculty. As part of the simulation experience, attendees will follow a family's healthcare journey, learning how professionals in a variety of healthcare and veterinary fields assist patients. They will learn about these 11 entry-level, industry-recognized healthcare certificate programs that Macomb offers that can serve as a first step toward a career in healthcare:  

  • Dental assisting
  • EKG technician
  • Laboratory assistant
  • Medical coding
  • Medical reimbursement specialist
  • Nursing assistant
  • Personal fitness trainer
  • Pharmacy technician
  • Phlebotomy
  • Registered behavior technician
  • Veterinary assistant

Information about payment options and funding assistance will also be provided along with registration support on site at the event.
