Macomb Community College is maintaining its tuition rates for the third year in a row. The rates for Macomb County residents, who comprise 86% of the college's nearly 30,000 students, will remain at $108 per billable contact hour for dual-enrolled and Early College of Macomb students, and $113 for all other resident students.

At its regular monthly meeting on Feb. 18, the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees approved extending tuition rates from the past two years through the upcoming academic year, Fall 2026 through Spring/Summer 2027. The rates for Macomb County residents, who comprise 86% of the college’s nearly 30,000 students, will remain at $108 per billable contact hour for dual-enrolled and Early College of Macomb students, and $113 for all other resident students.

“Understanding the economic pressures our community members are under, we are pleased to be able to extend the same tuition rates for the third year in a row,” said James O. Sawyer IV, president, Macomb Community College. “We continue to do all we can to maintain the affordability of a Macomb Community College education while ensuring that the college has the resources to continue to innovate and invest in the programming that connects residents to great jobs with great futures.”

Macomb has the fourth-lowest tuition rate among the state’s 28 community colleges, 17% below average, and a tuition rate 80% lower than the state’s public universities.

Tuition and fees are one of the college’s three primary sources of revenue at 35%, with local property taxes contributing 33%, state appropriations 26% and other revenue 6%.

The college has a longstanding commitment to making the most of limited fiscal resources. Macomb’s millage rate is the third lowest among the state’s community colleges, and the college receives the ninth-lowest state appropriation per student (fiscal year equated student – FYES). At the same time, Macomb has been one of the lowest-cost providers of community college education in Michigan for more than 15 years.
