Macomb Community College Board of Trustees Appoints Presidential Search Advisory Committee
– Tuesday, July 19, 2016 6:00PM
At a meeting Tuesday evening, July 19, the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees appointed an 18-member Presidential Search Advisory Committee. Consisting of representatives from the college’s board, employees, students and community members, the role of the committee will be to review and evaluate applications for the presidency, recommending finalists for consideration by Macomb’s full board of trustees.
The board has engaged the services of R.H. Perry & Associates, a firm that specializes in assisting institutions of higher education in identifying and selecting leadership. They will be working to recruit a robust and diverse pool of qualified applicants, assisting the advisory committee with the initial evaluation process and conducting in-depth due diligence of candidates under consideration.
“The college is an indispensable resource for affordable, high-quality education and training, and a vital connection to meaningful workplace opportunities,” said James F. Kelly, chair, Macomb Community College Board of Trustees. “Selection of Macomb Community College’s next president is an important decision for both the college and the community, with the college’s board committed to identifying the right leader to guide Macomb into the future. We’ve developed an approach to the search designed to generate a strong candidate pool and engage key constituencies directly in the process, while at the same time preserving the board’s role in ultimately selecting Macomb’s next president.”
R.H. Perry & Associates will be facilitating a series of meetings with the presidential search advisory committee, college staff and community members to provide comprehensive input to Macomb’s board of trustees in developing a profile for the position, including identifying necessary background and experience, as well as ideal characteristics. Community members interested in providing input can participate in a forum on Tuesday, July 26, 4 – 5:30 p.m. in Room 324 of the John Lewis Student and Community Center (K Building) on the college’s South Campus, 14500 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren.
The executive profile, the application process and a projected timeline will be made available through the college’s website, www.macomb.edu, as soon as the information is finalized.
