Reading and Writing Studios

The Macomb Reading and Writing Studios—with locations at both South and Center campuses—assist students to gain, improve and demonstrate academic and professional literacies expected of college students and graduates. The Studios offer appointments on-campus and online, including one-on-one and group sessions, as well as workshops and class visits upon request.

Hours of Operation

January 10 - May 9, 2022
Monday - Thursday: 8 am – 7 pm
Friday - Saturday: 9 am – 3 pm
Sunday: CLOSED

Please note that the Libraries, Learning Centers, and Reading & Writing Studios will have the adjusted hours listed below for May 9-22, 2022:

Monday, May 9
Last day of winter semester, normal operating hours: 8am-7pm

May 10
All areas closed except for testing services, which will be available by appointment only: 8am-4pm

May 11-22
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.    
Saturday - Sunday: CLOSED

What kind of support do we provide?

We help Macomb writers:

  • Identify and interpret assignment expectations
  • Develop and describe ideas
  • Organize content
  • Structure paragraphs
  • Refine sentence-level clarity and coherence
  • Document academic and professional sources
  • Compose online profiles (e.g., LinkedIn) and scholarship and college/university applications
  • Create effective and persuasive multi-modal texts (e.g., PowerPoint, posters, etc.)

We help Macomb readers:

  • Increase reading confidence and ease
  • Improve comprehension of difficult texts
  • Develop self-regulated strategies for comprehension
  • Set work goals and plan steps towards completion

We help Macomb multilingual students:

  • Understand and use familiar and idiomatic expressions necessary for reading and writing advanced texts
  • Identify and respond to structural language differences that can slow English learning
  • Incorporate knowledge and experiences across languages
