Pharmacy Technician

A Continuing Education Program

The desire to take medicine is perhaps the greatest feature which distinguishes man from animals.
-William Osler, Physician, Co-Founding Professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital

What Does a Pharmacy Technician Do?

Pharmacy Technicians, working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in retail and hospital pharmacies, are on the front line in the distribution of medications that a patient hopes will cure their ills. A Pharmacy Technician in a drugstore, for example, is usually responsible for accepting incoming prescription orders and for making sure a patient has no questions upon their receipt. The duties of a Pharmacy Technician also include monitoring pharmacy supplies, assisting in the dispensing of prescriptions, typing up patient instructions and maintaining the cleanliness of the pharmacy.
