Mathematics Program

You want to know how to rhyme, then learn how to add. It’s mathematics. -Mos Def (Yasiin Bey): Hip Hop Recording Artist, Actor and Activist

Why Mathematics?

Pythagoras knew. Behind every great piece of music, as well as every natural and manmade phenomenon, lies a mathematical structure. An ancient Greek philosopher, after whom a famous theorem is named, Pythagoras and his followers discovered the order behind musical sounds, providing the world with musical laws that govern harmony, melody, rhythm and more. Although most often aligned with science in its application, Mathematics has also provided significant contributions to the arts. As Pythagoras once observed: “Number rules the universe.”
