Floral Design Certificate Program

A Continuing Education Program

I, perhaps, owe having become a painter to flowers. -
Claude Monet, French Impressionist Painter

Why Floral Design?

There is good reason that Florists’ Transworld Delivery (FTD) continues to find new takes on its historic slogan “Say it with Flowers.”  Flowers are still a leading choice for expressing the full gamut of emotions, from exuberant joy to heartfelt sympathy. Those skilled in Floral Design communicate their customer’s feelings by artfully arranging flowers, plants, ribbons, bows and other materials into a balanced composition that brings comfort or cheer to the receiver.  Floral Designers are experts in flower selection, proper cutting techniques and matching arrangements to occasions.

The Floral Design Certificate Program at Macomb

In the Floral Design Certificate Program at Macomb you will be introduced to the attributes of flowers, including what different colors symbolize and how best to cut and store them.  You will learn how to work with fresh flowers, the practical applications for creating everything from casket sprays to cascading bouquets, gluing techniques for corsages and boutonnieres, and how to add your own unique touch to advanced designs.  All materials are included in the cost of each course, each of which can be taken individually or as part of the Floral Design Certificate Program.  The certificate of completion can be earned in less than a year.

What is a Continuing Education Program?

Continuing Education programs are open enrollment, which means you do not have to fill out an application to Macomb Community College. Continuing Education programs are not eligible for financial aid or for academic credit toward an associate degree or related certificate.
