Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

A Continuing Education Program

It’s not about ideas.  It’s about making ideas happen.
- Scott Belsky, Founder and CEO of Behance, Inc.

Why Entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurial skills are crucial to the success of any small business startup.  Entrepreneurship involves risk and requires sound business strategies, including a strategic business plan.  It’s not enough to have a great idea.  Entrepreneurs must also be prepared to deal with unforeseen costs, competition, legal issues, and the scrutiny of lending institutions.  But Entrepreneurship is also regarded as an essential element of the New Economy, and one that can reward those possessing the right skills, as well as those they employee, with a sustainable livelihood.

The Entrepreneurship Certificate Program at Macomb

In Macomb’s Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, you will learn about expected startup costs, legal protection against personal liability and unnecessary taxes, operating budgets, financing sources and marketing strategies. You will be assisted in defining your target markets, identifying your competitors and creating a business plan.  You will also be introduced to the 5 Cs: conditions, capital, character, collateral and cash flow - used by banking institutions to evaluate small business loan applications.

What is a Continuing Education Program?

Continuing Education programs are open enrollment (registration link here), which means you do not have to fill out an application to Macomb Community College.
