Chinese Language and Culture

Few other societies in the history of the world have for so long revered learning through study as have the Chinese.

From Chinese Proverbs and Popular Sayings by Qin Xue Herzberg and Larry Herzberg, Chinese Language Faculty, Calvin College

Why Chinese Language and Culture?

With more than 5,000 years of history, China is one of the few ancient civilizations to still thrive in the modern era. It possesses the world’s oldest, continually used written language, which is spoken by more people than any other. It has been responsible for inventions that have changed the course of history, the compass and gun power to name two, and from its eminent philosopher, Confucius, we have received words that we continue to live by.
