Certified Personal Fitness Trainer

A Continuing Education Program

Will is a skill. -Jillian Michaels, Personal Trainer, Author and Television Personality

What Does a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Do?

Personal Fitness Trainers help their clients achieve a desired level of fitness, including weight, muscle tone and cardiovascular health through diet, lifestyle changes and regular exercise. Personal Fitness Trainers set goals, provide motivation and evaluate results for their clients. They are knowledgeable about human anatomy and prescribe exercise regimes based on each client’s needs and fitness levels. Most trainers are fit and active themselves and are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle.

Macomb’s Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Program

In Macomb’s Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Program, you will be introduced to theoretical foundations in the body systems as you gain hands-on skill competency. You will learn about biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage and health assessments. You will also explore the common ailments and physical conditions that affect older adults and how to design age-appropriate exercise programs. Personal Fitness Trainer training and certification is provided through a partnership with World Instructor Training Schools and includes lecture and hands-on practical training, as well as an optional internship. The training can be completed in nine weeks or less.
