Public Safety Career Academy

High School Students: are you trying to decide what to do with the rest of your life? Thinking about a career in Public Safety, but aren't sure if that's for you? The Public Service Institute at Macomb Community College can help.

Through Macomb's innovative one-week Public Safety Career Academy, high school students who have completed their junior year can experience public safety training first hand. Participants will learn from professional public safety practitioners what it's like to be a public safety professional in today's society.

Participants will have the opportunity to take the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) pre-employment physical fitness test. You'll also have the chance to experience split-second decision making in simulated life or death situations, with the aid of state-of-the-art computer technology.

At the conclusion of the program, a counselor from the College will be there to help you prepare to make those all-important academic decisions that will influence the rest of your life, even if you decide that a career in public safety is not for you.

This program runs in June each year. Check the Macomb Community College WebAdvisor for dates.
