Macomb Community College students earn bronze at 2015 National SkillsUSA Competition

Macomb Community College students excelled at the 2015 National SkillsUSA Competition in Louisville, Ky., in June, with four students earning bronze medals and five others placing in the top ten in their respective fields.

  • Bethanie Fuhrman, Shelby Township, Advertising Design, Bronze
  • Jacob Turskey, Clinton Township, Photography, Bronze
  • Katie Baker, Mt. Clemens, and Maxwell Rodriguez, St. Clair Shores, TV/Video Production, Bronze
  • Brandy and DeanaMarie Greenway, Macomb, 3-D Visualization & Animation, fourth place
  • Andrew Borkowski, Harrison Township, Architectural Drafting, sixth place
  • Aaron Lapa, Warren, and Nickolas Zadick, Sterling Heights, Digital Cinema, ninth place.

To advance to the national competition, students had to win their categories at a statewide competition. More than 7,000 students nationwide competed in 97 occupational competitions.

This year marked the 50th annual competition for SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is a partnership among students, teachers and industry that encourages growth through participation in leadership and skill activities to enhance classroom learning.
