Macomb Community College is celebrating the accomplishments of those graduates completing degree requirements at the end of the fall 2014 semester, to which it is awarding 946 associate degrees at its 92nd commencement on Friday, Dec. 19, 7 p.m., at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts on Center Campus.

The commencement speaker and recipient of the Most Distinguished Graduate award will be Tao Tao, 34, of Macomb, who will be receiving an associate of general business degree in business administration. A native of China, Tao moved from Shanghai to Michigan in 2011 and began taking classes at Macomb. Tao, who maintained a 3.9 grade point average while attending Macomb, credits the college’s faculty and staff with helping him overcome the challenges of being an international student.

“I’ve learned that attitude and confidence are important to be successful,” Tao said. “I appreciate every bit of help and encouragement I’ve received from the entire Macomb family.”

Tao will begin classes in January at Wayne State University where he plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management.
