With an emphasis on professionalism, Macomb’s Fire Science with Fire Academy prepares you for lead positions in fire departments and private industry. In the Fire Science lectures and labs, you will learn the chemistry of fire and the philosophy and history of fire protection, as well as study extinguishing agents and their application. In the Fire Academy, you will learn advanced fire suppression techniques and prevention procedures, as you develop and strengthen your firefighting skills. Macomb’s Fire Academy meets Michigan’s requirements for preparing students to take the state certification exam for entry-level, on-call or volunteer firefighters.
