What is Business Management?

Business Management involves the coordinating of efforts and resources within an office, department, organization or company to achieve defined objectives.  In a field often defined by the word “leadership,” business managers make decisions, provide direction and set an example for other employees. Those who earn a Business Management Degree may work for a local startup or a global operation in such areas as operations, public relations, human resources or marketing.

Career Opportunities with an Associate of Business Administration Degree or Certificate in Business Management

At Macomb, you may choose to earn an Associate of Business Administration Degree or Certificate in Business Management and/or a Skill Specific Certificate in Business Management – New Supervisor, all of which qualify for you positions that include general and operations manager, and manager.

Occupational Certificate in Business

Macomb’s Workforce and Continuing Education Department offers certificate programs (link to Certificate Programs Page) in business that may be earned in six months or less.  These can provide you with a gateway into a business career and the option of earning a salary in a business-related position while you pursue further education, training and/or certification in Business Management.

Transfer Pathways to a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management

The credits earned in Macomb’s Program transfer to many colleges and universities in Michigan.
