Placement Testing: What you Need to Succeed!

 

All new students to Macomb Community College must take the Placement Test in order to evaluate their skill level in Math, English and Reading for proper course selection. Preparation for the test is encouraged.

Macomb Community College uses both Classic and Next-Generation versions of Accuplacer as follows:

Classic Version Study Guides Next-Generation Version Study Guides
WritePlacer Study Guide Reading
ESL Reading and Language Use (Pg 14 and 17) Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, Statistics
  Advanced Algebra and Functions

About Placement Testing:

  • Walk-in basis during hours of operation
  • Testing sites: H113, Center Campus, and G238, South Campus
  • Testing lab hours are:

Monday and Tuesday 9:00am – 6:00pm (arrive by 4:00pm)*
Wednesday – Friday 9:00am – 4:30pm (arrive by 2:30
pm)*

If you wish to complete the test in one session, please arrive two (2) hours before closing.

*If you are unable to arrive by these times, please contact the Placement Testing Office

  • Test is computer-based. Reading and Math portions are untimed. English portion (WritePlacer) is timed.
  • Free the first time, these are the guidelines and 
  • Test CAN be saved, but must be completed within 12 days of save date.
  • Your Macomb student ID number and another piece of photo identification with signatureis required
  • Takes about two hours – longer for students whose first language is not English
  • If you have a disability, contact Office of Special Services to arrange appropriate accommodations (586.445.7999 then press 2)
