Two Options for a Brighter Future

Whether you want to advance in or change careers with an academic degree or certificate or gain high-demand skills in a short-term training program that leads to immediate employment, we can help you get there with Michigan Reconnect now offering two options for financial assistance.

Academic Degree or Certificate

The Michigan Reconnect scholarship fund provides free in-district tuition for adults to complete a degree or certificate program at Macomb Community College.

Short-Term Training

The Michigan Reconnect Short-Term Training scholarship fund provides awards of up to $1,500 to adults pursuing short-term training at Macomb to gain skills for high-demand jobs.


Eligibility Requirements for Michigan Reconnect:  

  • Be at least 21 years old when you apply
  • Have lived in Michigan for a year or more
  • Have earned a high school diploma or GED
  • Have not yet completed an associate or bachelor’s degree


Academic Degree and Certificate Students

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to get started.

To continue to receive a scholarship, earn at least 12 credits in an associate degree or certificate program each academic year until completion. 

Applications for the scholarships must be submitted by Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 for the following academic year.

Short-Term Training Students

Review the list of eligible career training programs at Michigan.gov/CareerTraining prior to filling out your application and indicate your chosen career training provider on the application.

Apply at Michigan.gov/Reconnect.

Applications for the funds must be received by Dec. 15, 2024, with training beginning prior to Dec. 31, 2024.
