COVID-19 Update

March 16, 2020 | 6:32pm

Dear Students -

Please know that I understand that the current situation is frustrating. We continue to actively monitor the evolving local impact from the coronavirus pandemic and guidance provided by public health authorities. It is important that you know your safety and well-being is our utmost concern.

The college also remains committed to do everything in our power to support your continued academic progress. We continue to work toward convening online instruction on Monday, March 23, for the on-ground classes we have been able to convert, and they will continue online until further notice.

Following are current updates related to the college. I urge you to keep in mind that new developments are rapidly unfolding and can quickly render this information as out of date. You can consult the college's website and Information Center (answer@macomb.edu or 586.445.7999 - select "0") to confirm information.

  • The college's current online classes are continuing as originally scheduled.
  • As of 3 p.m. today, libraries and learning centers, as well as the Lorenzo Cultural Center, are closed to the public. Today's executive order from Governor Whitmer requiring the closure of bars, restaurants, gyms and casinos, also covered libraries and museums.
  • Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, the college will be closed to the public. College staff will be available by phone and email to provide support to students and community members. We have provided a link to our contact directory through a banner on the homepage of our website.

Be assured that we will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments to protect the well-being of the college community and your educational future. I appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate together through these unprecedented times.
