Reelected trustees Frank Cusumano, Macomb Township, and Vincent Viviano, Shelby Township, and Shelley Vitale, Macomb, who was initially appointed to the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees in 2019 to fill a vacancy, were sworn in by Macomb President James O. Sawyer IV, Ed.D., on Monday, Jan. 11. They were elected in the Nov. 4, 2020, general election and join the college’s seven-member board of trustees.

Macomb Community College trustees are elected through a nonpartisan, countywide election and serve six-year terms without compensation.  The board sets fiscal and operational policy, and serves as a direct link between the college and community.

The board held their organizational meeting on Jan. 20, electing officers to serve for the upcoming two years.  Katherine Bracey Lorenzo, Clinton Township, was reelected as chair. She has been a member of the college’s board since 2017 and is a Macomb Community College professor emeritus of psychology, having served more than 35 years as an administrator and faculty member at the college. Frank Cusumano, Macomb Township, was reelected as vice chair.  He has been a member of the college’s board since 2012 and is a licensed attorney practicing primarily in Macomb County. Kristi Dean, Shelby Township, was reelected as secretary. Dean has been a member of the college’s board since 2017 and works with large amounts of data as an application developer, in addition to serving as adjunct faculty with several universities globally. Roseanne DiMaria, Eastpointe, was reelected as treasurer, an office she has held since 2012. She is a retired surgical technician.

Trustee Joan Flynn, Warren, rounds out the seven-member board.
