Macomb Community College is celebrating the accomplishments of those graduates completing degree requirements at the end of the winter 2018 semester, to which it is awarding nearly 1,700 associate degrees at its 99th commencement on Friday, May 11, 7 p.m., at the Sports & Expo Center on Macomb’s South Campus.

The commencement speaker and recipient of the Most Distinguished Graduate award is Morgan Lashbrook, of Madison Heights, who will receive associate degrees in interactive web media and design and layout.

During her time at Macomb, Lashbrook has been a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and will represent the college in web design and development at the 2018 SkillsUSA National Championship in June. Lashbrook will attend the College for Creative Studies this fall to pursue a bachelor of fine arts in communication design and then plans to transfer to Yale University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She hopes to combine her skills to make websites and applications more accessible for people with disabilities.

“I feel Macomb gave me so much more than degrees,” said Lashbrook. “I gained a priceless set of interpersonal skills and diligent work ethics in addition to an outstanding set of technical skills to apply directly to my industry –while saving thousands of dollars.”
