The Macombers, Macomb Community College’s show choir, take the stage with the Macombers’ Spring Extravaganza  Saturday, April 28, 7:30 p.m., at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, which is on the college’s Center Campus in Clinton Township. The Macombers, an audition-only scholarship choir established in 1970, will sing and dance their way through a variety of numbers from both stage and screen including The Greatest Showman, a musical film inspired by the life of P.T. Barnum, Finding Neverland, a film about playwright J. M. Barrie and his relationship with a family who inspired him to create Peter Pan, and an extensive Disney medley.

Joining the Macombers are the Garfield Singers, a show choir of middle and high school students from the Macomb Center’s outreach and continuing education programs, who will take the audience back to the 1980s with tunes including Thriller and Footloose.

The Expressions, the college’s audition-only pops ensemble a capella group, and the college’s Concert Choir, will also be featured, performing  time-honored favorites.

To wrap up the evening, approximately 30 Macombers alumni will return to the stage with a medley from The Phantom of the Opera

The Macombers perform dozens of shows every year throughout the community, continually changing their musical selections and choreography.

Tickets for the Macombers’ Spring Extravaganza are $18 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and younger. They are available by calling the Macomb Center’s ticket office at 586.286.2222. All proceeds from the ticket sales go to support the Macombers student scholarship fund.
