At its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 19, the Macomb Community College Board of Trustees appointed Elizabeth Lucido to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Trustee Christine Bonkowski.

Lucido, a resident of Clinton Township, has been an elementary school teacher for 19 years.  She has a bachelor’s degree in education from Wayne State University, as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.  She is married and has three children, and also volunteers with the children’s program at her church.  Lucido will serve on the board until the next regularly scheduled election for trustee seats, which will be November 8, 2016.  Macomb Community College trustees are elected through countywide, nonpartisan election and serve six-year terms without compensation.

“I’d like to extend my sincere appreciation to all those who applied for the vacancy on Macomb’s board,” said James F. Kelly, chair, Macomb Community College Board of Trustees.  “It’s gratifying to see so many qualified individuals willing to step up to serve, validating the importance of the college to the community.  We’re looking forward to Elizabeth Lucido joining us on the board.”

Lucido was selected from among 12 applicants for the vacancy.  Community members interested in serving were asked to submit a letter of interest and a biography for consideration.
