Roslyn Kind kicks off Macomb Center’s 2014-2015 Season

– Friday, August 22, 2014 12:00AM

Macomb Center for the Performing Arts kicks off its new season with singer and actress Roslyn Kind on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. Kind, the younger sister of singer Barbra Streisand, will present an evening of music, cabaret and family storytelling.

Kind began her performing career while still in her teens with the release of her first album, “Give Me You.” Following that were engagements at the nation's top nightclubs, three appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show” and her New York debut at the Plaza Hotel's legendary Persian Room.  Recently featured on Streisand’s World Tour, Kind also has performed at venues including Lincoln Center, The Greek Theater and London’s Cafe Royal.

On Broadway, Kind starred in the musical revue “3 From Brooklyn.” Additional theatrical credits include the off-Broadway production of “Show Me Where the Good Times Are,” “Leader of the Pack,” “Ferguson the Tailor” and the Los Angeles production of William Finn's “Elegies.”  Her television credits include the film “Switched at Birth,” multiple episodes of NBC's “Gimme a Break,” and “Throb.” She also starred as herself on CBS's “The Nanny,” which showcased Kind’s talent as a songwriter in a performance of her composition, “Light of Love”.

Will Friedland of the Wall Street Journal wrote that Kind provides “the voice and high style of a Streisand without the baggage … that usually goes with it.”

The New York Post said: “She’s so good on so many levels; it’s difficult to categorize her.  This elegant, beautiful, petite, dynamo delight rules the stage with a royal command that demands adoration from every seat in the house.”

Roslyn’s latest CD release, “Come What May,” was described by The New York Times as "splendid and sizzling.”

Tickets for the Roslyn Kind concert are $49 gold circle, $43 house ($59 pit seating). Seniors, students and military save $5 off regular priced tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the Macomb Center box office Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Tickets and additional information are available online at www.MacombCenter.com or by calling 586.286.2222.  The Macomb Center for the Performing Arts is located on Macomb Community College's Center Campus at 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township.
