English for Academic Purposes

You live a new life for every new language you speak. - Czech Proverb

What is English for Academic Purposes?

English for Academic Purposes prepares nonnative speakers of English to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment. Students who have already acquired some basic English language skills learn how to communicate ideas in an academic setting, read and understand literature, conduct scholarly research and undertake college/university-level assignments. It differs from English as a Second Language (ESL) in that its focus is on academic study, not social and life skills, and credits earned in the courses may be applied to degree requirements.
