Macomb Community College and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) have established a formal alliance - the first with a Community College in the state. A key goal of the alliance is the establishment of the MIOSHA Training Institute (MTI). The MTI will help protect the safety and health of Michigan's workers through innovative training to both MIOSHA staff and the public.
Designed for You
For the first time ever, employers, employees, equipment manufacturers, union members, safety and health personnel, emergency responders, and college students can participate in the same training MIOSHA provides to their professional staff. The MTI will deliver consistent, participant-driven and informative programs based on the most up-to-date industry standards in a hands-on interactive environment.
Value Added Training
The MTI will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in open discussions on MIOSHA standards with those who administer the standards. Participants will also have the opportunity to network, exchange information about best practices and learn how to leverage resources. Through the alliance, the MTI will have equipment and machinery that enables trainers to provide demonstrations and offer more effective training. The MTI will include a certification process to encourage and promote continuous education and advanced-level training. Level 1 Certification is offered for two tracks: General Industry and Construction. Click here for Progress Log and Application form listing eligible toward both tracks. Click here for industry points also determined for many of these classes.
Success Through Collaboration
Macomb Community College's Workforce Development Institute at the M-TEC, the Public Service Institute at Macomb's East Campus, home to the Emergency Services Training Center, and MIOSHA will conduct and coordinate the training. The MTI will establish a blueprint for collaboration to involve other Colleges and M-TECs statewide.
