Media and Communication Arts – 3D Animation Program

Everything we do is about pure imagination.
-Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO Dreamworks Animation (Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, etc.)

What is 3D Animation?

3D Animation is the method used to convert or translate an idea from a 2-dimensional state and give it depth. Instead of having a traditionally flat image locked as it has been drawn, you can move around, inside, or through a created object to experience it in different ways. The techniques in 3D involve modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, simulating, and more. The artwork created within the 3D world can be brought into gaming engines, sent to 3D printers, or used with other mediums to create whatever the imagination desires.
