Macomb College offers help to those looking for new careers

Macomb Community College's Career Services is hosting a seminar, Michigan Bridge to Success, on Wednesday, April 2, 4:30 to 8 p.m., that offers disadvantaged, transitioning or underemployed adults help in preparing for new and successful careers.

Providing the seminar's keynote address will be Keith Cooley, director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth. Cooley will speak about career trends in Michigan and high-demand skills for the 21st century workforce from 7 to 8 p.m. There will be also be sessions offered every half hour from 5:15 to 7 p.m. on resume-writing, starting a new business in Michigan and stress management. Representatives from Michigan Works, Kelly Services and Total Health Care Systems as well as Macomb's Career Services, Counseling and Advising, Center for Continuing Education, and Small Business and Technology Center will be available to discuss job opportunities and preparation.

Michigan Bridge to Success will be held in Macomb's University Center on Center Campus, Hall and Garfield roads. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required by March 26.
