Class Looks Inside Music, Entertainment Industry

A two-class program offered through Macomb Community College’s Center for Continuing Education will provide an inside look at the business side of the music industry.

The classes, offered in conjunction with the Music Mogul Network and Retro Island Productions, focus on finding business and music opportunities, copyright and music publishing, getting your music into film/TV, developing a budget, working with unions, do-it-yourself marketing and promotions and more. Those who complete both of the classes will receive a Music & Entertainment Industry Certificate and be eligible to participate in an individual career counseling session, resume/portfolio review and a one-year student membership in the Music Mogul Network.

The classes are:
• Music Mogul 101: Music, Money and Opportunities. 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16-Dec. 9.
• Music Mogul 201: Marketing, Management and Merchandise, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 20, April 7, 2009.

The classes, which may be taken individually, cost $365 each and will be offered on Macomb’s South Campus in Warren.
