At its 79th commencement, Macomb will honor those graduates who have completed requirements for their associate degrees at the end of the Winter 2008 Semester.  Among the approximately 1,184 degrees the college will award, will be the associate of general studies degree, concentration in biology, earned by Victoria Moran, of St. Clair Shores, Most Distinguished Graduate for May 2008 and commencement speaker.

Moran, who graduated from Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Marine City in 2006, is a member of Macomb’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter and a recipient of the college’s Chemistry Honors Award.  Employed as a customer service representative at Wet Seal Incorporated, she is graduating with a grade point average of 3.98. She intends to transfer to Case Western Reserve or the University of Detroit Mercy to pursue a bachelor of science degree in molecular biology and a master’s degree in immunology, with plans to pursue a career in scientific research.     

Moran was selected Macomb’s Most Distinguished Graduate for May 2008 based on her academic accomplishments, an essay detailing her future plans and an interview with a selection committee comprised of college faculty and staff.  

Macomb Community College’s 79th commencement will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at the Macomb Sports & Expo Center on the college’s South Campus, Twelve Mile and Hayes roads, Warren.
