Macomb Cultural Center Offers Volunteer Opportunities

The Macomb Cultural Center has openings for volunteers interested in assisting guests in getting the most out of their visit to Macomb County's place for discovery.

Opportunities for volunteers range from greeting visitors and acclimating them to the facility to helping with tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Requirements for volunteers include a friendly smile and the ability to communicate effectively with Macomb Cultural Center visitors, who range from school-age children to seniors. Volunteer assignments are tailored to suit the availability, interests and talents of each individual volunteer.

The next major Macomb Cultural Center program series, Great Lakes, Great Stories, Michigan's Maritime Heritage, runs Oct. 6 - Dec. 2, with Michigan's Fight for Freedom, The Civil War Era scheduled for Feb. through May 2008. The cultural center is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 - 4 p.m.

The Macomb Cultural Center explores the influences and experiences that shape the community's heritage, examining topics from a variety of perspectives and creating interactive opportunities for learning, celebration and entertainment. The cultural center is located on Macomb Community College's Center Campus, Hall and Garfield roads in Clinton Township, adjacent to the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.
