Macomb Culinary Institute Announces Gingerbread House Competition

Silent Auction of Entries to Benefit Single Parents in Transitions Program

Macomb Community College's Culinary Institute is sponsoring a Gingerbread House Competition open to the public, with judging to take place in three categories: high school student, college student and professional. There is no entry free, but entry forms must be submitted no later than Thursday, Nov. 1.

Completed gingerbread creations must be delivered to the Macomb Cultural Center, at Macomb's Center Campus, Hall and Garfield roads, Clinton Township, on Friday, Nov. 16, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Entries will be judged that evening, and an award ceremony will be held in the cultural center on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2 p.m. Gold, silver and bronze awards will be given, and every entrant will receive a medallion and a certificate of participation.

Entries will be displayed at the Macomb Cultural Center for viewing and silent auction from Saturday, Nov. 17, through Sunday, Dec. 9, with each of the gingerbread houses awarded to the highest bidder. Proceeds from the auction will benefit single parents who are enrolled in the Transitions program at Macomb College, which provides assistance to those who have a faced a major life change.
