First- or second-generation immigrants to America are invited to share the story of their experiences as part of fall program at the Lorenzo Cultural Center at Macomb Community College.
"A Journey of Hope: Michigan's Immigrant Experience" will feature a series of exhibits, presentations, performances and activities at the cultural center at Macomb's Center Campus in Clinton Township, Sept. 27 - Nov. 23. The programming will focus on the experiences, challenges, dreams and contributions of those who left their homelands to make a new life in Michigan.
The stories will be posted to the cultural center’s website, www.lorenzoculturalcenter.com, and may be used in other programming related to the “Journey” program this fall.
Immigrants and their children are welcome to share their story in 500 words or less by mail to Chris Guarino, Director of Cultural Affairs, Macomb Community College, 4475 Garfield, Clinton Township, MI, 48038. Submission may also be made by e-mail at guarinoc@macomb.edu. The cultural center may edit submissions prior to use.
