Faculty-driven scholarships awarded to Macomb students

Macomb Community College Faculty Organization (MCCFO) awarded scholarships to five outstanding students for the fall term, marking the scholarship program's 31st year and bringing the total number of recipients to 146.

To be eligible for four of the MCCFO scholarships, students must have completed 24 semester credits with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. To be eligible for the William Tschirhart Scholarship, students must have completed 24 semester credits with a minimum grade point average of 3.2 and be pursuing a mathematics or science-related degree. Both types of scholarships require nomination/recommendation by a faculty member. The scholarships, three of which honor Macomb faculty members who have died, are supported by faculty and other private donations. The $1,000 scholarships are awarded each fall.

The 2007 scholarship recipients and the awards they received are as follows: Harry Edwards (Macomb,) Center Campus Arts and Sciences Award; Andrew Dolski (St. Clair Shores,) South Campus Lloyd Raskin Arts and Sciences Award; Margaret Schichtle (Eastpointe,) Center Campus Occupational Award; Subin Mathai (Sterling Heights,) South Campus Andy Drotar Occupational Education Award; and Jennifer Aldrich (Shelby Township,) William Tschirhart Scholarship for math and science majors.
