An upcoming presentation at Macomb Community College will look at the current health of the Clinton River, which flows into Lake St. Clair and is currently designated as an "Area of Concern" by environmental agencies in the United States and Canada, and what can be done individually and collectively to improve it.
The presentation, "Stewardship of the Clinton River: A Collaboration of Communities," is part of the college's Forum Luncheon Series and is co-sponsored by Student Activities. The speaker will be Jill Hollowell, education director for the Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC). She will share information on the efforts of CRWC, in concert with other community organizations, to restore the Clinton River and its watershed to a healthy state. She will also discuss how individual actions impact water quality and how to become involved with the stewardship efforts of the CRWC.
There is no charge to attend the presentation, which begins at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Building K, Room 301, on Macomb's South Campus, 14500 Twelve Mile Road, Warren. An optional luncheon of pasta with tomato basil sauce and salad will be served at 12:30 p.m. at a cost of $9 per person. Tickets for the luncheon are $9 and must be purchased from the Cashier's Office at either campus by Nov. 20. Luncheon tickets may be reserved by calling 586.445.7378.
