State Grants
Michigan Adult Part-Time Grant Program (MAPTG)
This program provides grant assistance to needy adult students who enroll 3-11 credit hours. Grants of up to $600 per year are available, for not more than five semesters. Eligibility requirements include the following:

Michigan Educational Opportunity Grant Program (MEOG)
This grant provides assistance to needy students. Grants up to $1000 per year are available under this program. Eligibility requirements include the following:
- Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more)
Demonstrate financial need, based on results of the FAFSA
Have been a continuous Michigan resident from July 1 of the year preceding the academic year for which the student is applying for the grant.

A U S. Citizen or permanent resident
Not incarcerated in a correctional institution
Preference to dependent students
Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)
Phase 1 of the Tuition Incentive Program pays community college in-district tuition and registration fee for up to 12 credit hours per semester, or a total of 24 credit hours per academic year. The award does not pay for course fees. Eligibility requirements include the following:

A U.S. Citizen or lawfully admitted alien with permanent status

A resident of Michigan (according to College policy)
-
Has a high school diploma or GED
-
Under the age of 20 at the time of high school graduation or GED completion
-
Determined financially eligible by Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) prior to high school graduation
-
Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more)
-
Begin a course of study within 48 months of high school graduation or GED completion
-
Not in default on a Federal Title IV loan
-

Guest students are eligible
In Phase 1, the student is eligible for a maximum of 80 semester hours. A student can only receive TIP benefits at one institution per semester.
Note: The student must submit the TIP eligibility letter and all required documentation before the last day of the semester in the academic year for which the student is enrolled. If the student is eligible for TIP for the spring/summer semester, he/she must submit all documents no later than June 1 of the award year.
State Scholarships
Michigan Competitive Scholarship Program
This program provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate both financial need and academic potential. Academic potential is based on the national ACT test. Those eligible may receive up to the amount of demonstrated financial need or the amount of tuition, whichever is less, not to exceed $1300 per academic year. Eligibility requirements include the following:

Achieve a qualifying score based on the national ACT test. This test should be taken in the junior or senior year of high school.

Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or an approved refugee.

Have been a continuous Michigan resident from July 1 of the year preceding the academic year for which the student is applying for the scholarship.

Demonstrate financial need, based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) please Macomb Community College as your first school on the FAFSA.

Enroll at least half-time (6 credit hours or more)

Have not completed a bachelor’s degree
-
Not in default on a Federal Title IV loan

Not incarcerated

Not pursing a degree in theology or religious education

Awards can be renewed annually for a maximum of ten semesters within ten years of high school graduation, as long as the applicant meets the following:

Demonstrates financial need, according to the annual FAFSA

Maintains Michigan residency and undergraduate student status
-
Maintains satisfactory academic progress as defined by Macomb Community College
-
Meets all other program eligibility requirements
Michigan Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is funded through the State of Michigan for students enrolled in the nursing program. Students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Accepted and enrolled in the Macomb Community College Nursing Program
-
Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more)
-
Taking nursing or other classes required for the nursing degree
-
U. S. citizen or permanent resident
-
High school graduate or has a GED
-
Maintain satisfactory academic progress, as defined by Macomb Community College
-
Not in default on a federal student loan
-
Not convicted of a felony or incarcerated
-
Michigan resident since July 1, 2007
-
Preference to students with financial need (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid-FAFSA) is required to demonstrate financial need

Sign the scholarship agreement and promissory note to certify the recipient will achieve licensure within on year of completion of the nursing program and agree to specified employment provisions. Failure to comply with these provisions means the scholarship will change to a loan, which requires repayment.
All applicants must complete the Macomb Community College Michigan Nursing Scholarship Application Form and submit it to the Financial Aid Office by the published deadline.
Renewal students will be funded in subsequent years before awards are made to new students, assuming the renewal student meets all eligibility requirements.
Michigan Merit Award
This is a merit-based program that rewards student achievement. Eligibility is based on the student’s score on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) high school tests (HST). The student must score in Level 1 or Level 2of the test in mathematics, reading, science and writing. By taking the test, the student has satisfied the application requirements. Recipients are selected by the Michigan Merit Award Board.
The scholarship is a one-time award. The award is to be used for educational expenses (e.g. tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, board and child care expenses). The award amount varies, based on year of high school graduation. The maximum award is up to $3000 for use at Michigan colleges/universities only. The $3000 includes the maximum middle school award of $500, if eligible). Based on State appropriations, the first year payment will not exceed 50% of the award. The second year, the student will receive the remaining balance.
To receive the Michigan Merit Award at Macomb, the student must complete the Macomb Michigan Merit Award Certification Form for the semester in which the student is enrolled. The student must also be listed on the verification roster issued by the Michigan Merit Office, Department of Treasury, before the award can be paid to the student’s tuition account. Michigan Promise Scholarship
This scholarship replaces the Michigan Merit Award, effective with the high school graduating class of 2007. It provides funding to Michigan students, based on the following eligibility criteria:

A Michigan resident

Take the Michigan Merit Exam (MME)

Enroll, within two years of high school graduation, in an approved postsecondary institution in Michigan or a military service academy
-
Complete the postsecondary education requirements (Associate’s Degree, etc.) within four years of initial enrollment at the postsecondary institution
-
Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.5
-
Be a high school graduate or passed the GED or any other graduate equivalency exam approved by the State Board of Education
-
Certify his/her eligibility for the scholarship
Award amounts

Students who receive qualifying scores on the MME test may receive up to $1,000 per academic year for each of their first two years of college and up to $2,000 after the successful completion of two years of college with at least a 2.5 grade point average (Associate’s Degree, two-year certificate, vocational education program or 50% of the academic requirements for a bachelor’s degree)

Students who do not receive qualifying scores on the MME test may receive up to $4,000 after the successful completion of two years of college with at least a 2.5 grade point average (Associate’s Degree, two-year certificate, vocational education program or 50% of the academic requirements for a bachelor’s degree)
