What is the ANGEL Student Orientation?
Students taking their first e-Learning course at Macomb are required to successfully complete a one-time ANGEL Student Orientation before accessing their courses. Registered students can access the ANGEL Student Orientation about three weeks after the registration period begins. The ANGEL Student Orientation can be completed online or on campus at drop-in sessions offered at the start of each semester.
What is an online course?
Online courses are those for which all classroom-oriented teaching and learning takes place in virtual classrooms. All online (virtual) course sections are identified with a specific course section designator in the Academic Schedule of Classes. A "V" in the course section number, e.g., MKTG-1210-V0801, is an online (virtual) course offering.
What is a hybrid course?
Hybrid courses, also known as "blended" at some colleges and universities, are designed to deliver a significant amount of instruction and student engagement in a virtual environment & meet on campus for specific scheduled dates and times. All hybrid course sections are identified with a specific course section designator in the Academic Schedule of Classes. An "H" in the course section number, e.g., MKTG-2010-H0802, is a hybrid course offering.
What is a web-enhanced course?
Web-enhanced courses meet in on-ground classrooms, on scheduled days and times, with teaching supported by ANGEL Learning software. There is not a specific section designator shown in the Academic Schedule of Classes to indicate if a course is a web-enhanced course.
Is an online or hybrid course the same number of weeks as an on-campus course?
Online or hybrid courses are typically condensed to eight (8) weeks. The same amount of academic preparation and work is required for eight week online and hybrid courses as is required for sixteen week on-campus courses.
Are online and hybrid courses available 24 hours a day?
Online and hybrid courses are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Do online and hybrid courses cost more?
Tuition is the same as on-campus courses; however, there is a course fee for each online and hybrid course section. Check the current Academic Schedule of Classes for course fees.
Where can textbooks and materials be purchased for online and hybrid courses?
Textbooks and materials can be purchased at either campus bookstore or from the bookstore website; http://www.macomb.edu/bookstore
What are the guidelines for registration, withdrawal and refunds of virtual courses?
Follow the same registration, withdrawal, and refund guidelines as on-campus classes. Check Web Advisor for drop/add, refund and other policies. Please note: Hardware malfunction of your personal computer does not justify a special refund.
Can the Macomb campus computers be used to do my homework?
It is best to have your own computer when enrolling in online and hybrid courses. However, if the need arises, the library allows time-limited access to the internet using their computers and computer labs are on both campuses.
If I'm disconnected while taking an assessment (quiz or exam) what should I do?
If you lose connection while completing a course assessment, email your instructor immediately.

I can’t find my courses. Where are they?
Log into ANGEL: (1) Click "Edit" on the Courses pane. Your list of courses is displayed. (2) Select the desired course(s) by clicking on the related checkbox. (3) From the "Advanced Settings" list, choose the "Yes" option for "Show Disabled" and (4) click the "Save" button.
What is my username in ANGEL?
ANGEL usernames are the same as WebAdvisor User ID's (the username to register for courses). To obtain your WebAdvisor User ID, go to https://webadvisor.macomb.edu/idlookup/
What is my ANGEL password?
The default password for all first time logins is your six (6) digit date of birth, e.g., February 14, 1983, is 021483. You are prompted to change the default password at the first-time login.
I don't remember my password. Who can help me?
Contact ANGEL Support at angelsupport@macomb.edu or 877.362.2662 if you are unable to login. If you are logged into ANGEL and want to reset your password, click on the Preferences icon on the Powerstrip and then click, Change My Password.
What is the Michigan Community Colleges Virtual Learning Collaborative (MCCVLC)?
The MCCVLC is a project of the Michigan Community College Association that distributes online class offerings from member colleges to students with support services provided by the host college. Students currently enrolled in a Michigan Community College may register for MCCVLC courses at www.mccvlc.org
How many hours am I going to spend taking my online class?
Based on the calculations used by Academic Advising, students will be expected to work 2 hours outside of the classroom contact hours for on-ground classes. For example: a 3-credit hour, 16-week course, would equate to 9 hours invested each week multiplied by 16 weeks for a total of 144 hours. This should be used as a guide regardless if offered on-ground, hybrid, online or over 16-weeks, 12-weeks, or 8-weeks.
